CAD/CAM dentistry is a field of dentistry and prosthodontics using CAD/CAM (computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing) to improve the design and creation of dental restorations, including crowns, crown lays, veneers, inlays and onlays, fixed bridges, dental implant restorations, dentures (removable or fixed), and orthodontic appliances. CAD/CAM complements earlier technologies by increasing the speed of design and creation, increasing the convenience or simplicity of the design, creation, and insertion processes, and making possible restorations and appliances that otherwise would have been impossible.
The world of CAD/CAM dentistry has been evolving for 30 years. Here at Metropolitan Dental Arts we use the most recent technology to fabricate your crowns, bridges, veneers and other restorations. Our intraoral scanner allows us to digitally scan your teeth instead of using the customary impression materials that can be messy and/or uncomfortable for the patient. Feel free to ask Dr. Heller for more information about our 3D intraoral scanner at your next visit.
